Default Can you ID this book

I assume this cover page is in Russian and that the book was given to my mother when she was a child. I tried using an online Russian OCR gizmo and then pasted the results into Bing and Google translators. It didn't work. I could carry it with me and ask a taxi driver the next time I take a cab. Where I live most of them speak Russian. Or maybe ask one of my neighbors. But it would not be easy for me for a variety of reasons. So I thought I'd take a shot and ask here. See attached.
