Default Nose job

I don't think I've mentioned the recent excitement in my life: breaking my nose in a freak accident at the end of December, and then having surgery to repair it. The photo was taken a few days after the accident.

The doctor told me that he was going to put a cast on my nose. I imagined ten pounds of plaster but it was just a curved piece of plastic, held on by double-stick tape. The fourth-graders thought that it was really cool. I didn't get a photo with it.

I was very pleased with my local hospital, both the ER and the same-day surgery department, and with the doctor. This is enough of a backwater that you never know what to expect.

The EMT who was working at the triage desk asked me to rate the pain on a scale of 1 to 10. I answered 1, and he said that I didn't seem to understand the rules of the game. Apparently the patient always answers 10.
