Default How printing works in Windows 8

In view of the discussion on problems with printing in Windows 7 recently I think this MS Blog may be of interest

Hope it all works .... I don't do very much printing from Windows 8.

I came across this interesting tidbit in the background on earlier approaches:
<< As an aside, the other thing we do when we release a new version of Windows is to take the drivers that were in the previous version and post them to Windows Update, so that even though these devices may be dropping in popularity, it’s still possible for people to automatically get the device working by just plugging it in. >>

which would see to make it worthwhile checking the optional updates in Windows Updates if you have a problem finding a driver on the manufacturer's website.
