Default Font "activation" by font managers

Windows question:
Many font managers out there claims "font activation." Those that don't, claim it will come "real soon now." I also know that double-clicking on a .ttf file will "activate" the font, but also leave the fontviewer window open.

Does anyone know the command used by the font managers that activates these fonts without having the fontviewer window(s) open?
