Default Win7...making me crazy

Sooo...my sister's new small HP laptop arrived today...it's cute...'-}}

Windows 7 Explorer is driving me NUTS!

1. I've come to understand the notion of "placeholders" (not sure that's the correct term) but I don't understand why they were created...

2. I want to look in whatever is the equivalent of Startup for All Users--I've found the Users folder (heaven forbid that documents and settings actually "worked") but I can't figured out where to go for Start Menu or why there is no App Data folder in All Users?

3. Focus seems to be lost--rather than the display staying on the clicked folder, the display jumps somewhere else and you have to scroll to find out where you were) whenever you click on a folder in Explorer and I'll bet there is something that will fix that?

I guess I'll get used to it...'-}}
