Default Leonard Cohen

I recently watched this Leonard Cohen interview. I had heard he is quite a charmer and I could see it in this interview. What's interesting about Cohen is he's never been a household name, even though his songs were covered by a who's who of performers. He disappeared from the business and spent 15 years in a Buddhist monastery just north of Los Angeles. He woke up one day to find that his manager had swindled him out of millions. He was also sued by others and had to declare bankruptcy. So he started performing again and launched a successful three-year international tour.

How many non-mainstream singer-songwriters could pull that off.
