Default Is there such a fax machine?

I have had to fax dozens of pages recently and am being driven to distraction by my two old fax machines, one a flat-bed from Xerox, the other a pass-through print/fax machine from H-P. The H-P is the newer, only about 10 years old; the Xerox is closer to 20.

I keep them both around because sometimes I need to fax out of a book and use the flatbed (usually just make a copy there), but it is out of toner (or whatever it uses — looks like carbon strips), and the refills cost hundreds of $$$. The machine also takes up a lot of space.

The H-P no longer feeds originals reliably. Sometimes it resists altogether and prints one sheet and leaves the rest of the stack in the feeder. But when it is really bad, feeds unevenly and the recipient gets a patchwork mess.

I remember sheets of fuzzy stuff I could run through a document feeder to clean feed rollers, but do not see them now at Staples, so guess I will give up on this machine.

I would really like a machine with both a feeder and a flatbed. Anyone know of anything like that? Appreciate any leads. Don’t need many fancy features, just a reliable fax machine that can make the occasional copy.
