Default snazzy display fonts

Svetoslav Simov’s Fontfabric site offers a collection of free opentype (.otf) display fonts under a liberal [URL="http://fontfabric.com/downloadfont/FFF_EULA_license.pdf"]license[/URL. There is also a Facebook page.

I noticed this site months ago, thinking it was about someone doing something typographic with or on fabric. Instead I found the charming work of a Bulgarian designer from Sofia whose fonts could be building blocks for many projects, even (but not necessarily) on fabric.

These are display fonts, many of them hard to read (or they can be, depending on how you use them). We are warned that some (most?) must be spaced by eye (are unkerned, in other words) — hard to see any other way to use them, actually.

Some of these fonts also seem a bit familiar — they echo art deco, op art, and other patterns of the 20th century.

I see good material for nameplates or logos; in fact the designer himself has used some of them that way. Some of the really heavy designs work well for knocking out of (or incorporating) backgrounds or photos, and might be useful for titles. The example layouts are also just fun to look at.

I am attaching a few samples from the site.
