Default Skype annoyances...

I don't use Skype and the other day I received an email purporting to be from Skype but I wasn't sure. It referenced someone I know who does indeed use Skype--one of my sister's clients and my sister sometimes emails me using the email account she has with that client.

I wasn't sure if my sister's client's addressbook/contacts database might have been compromised so I contacted Skype to see if the email had indeed been sent by Skype.

The email was from Skype--I had to sent them a screenshot of the email which I thought was weird. The only way Skype could have gotten my email address was by data mining the addressbook/contacts database of this particular Skype account holder--she has never called me via Skype

I have asked Skype if there is an Opt-out option in the Skype software so that Skype users can say "no...I don't want Skype using my addressbook/contacts database for Skype's marketing department". I told Skype that I consider all unsolicited email to be spam and that I didn't appreciate their data mining tactics--I also made a point to note that I knew that the lowly support person reading my email was not at fault and I asked that my email be forwarded to someone who decides Skype's marketing polices...

Soooo...for those of you who do use Skype, is there an Opt-out option to block access to your addressbook/contacts database?
