Default First things first or The Law is a Ass ?

I thought this went out with the IBM Selectric and documents in old Courier in WordPro on computers but I've just been reading the Amicus Curae document:

ON APPEAL FROM THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT

FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

BRIEF OF AMICI CURIAE SPECIAL FORCES ASSOCIATION, U.S. ARMY
RANGER ASSOCIATION, SEN. LINDSEY O. GRAHAM, ABRAHAM
GERMAN, WADE ISHIMOTO, ANDREW NICHOLS PRATT, DENNIS
WALTERS, GEORGE R. WORTHINGTON, MICHAEL YON
which relates to a District Court ruling on habeus corpus resulting in US Special Forces having to observe what I'd describe as peacetime domestic rules and procedures with regard to detainees at the Bagram camp.

I am reassured to find that it ends with this classic statement of clear importance to our legal system:

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE WITH RULE 32(a)(7)(C) OF

THE FEDERAL RULES OF APPELLATE PROCEDURE

I hereby certify, pursuant to Fed. R. App. P. 32(a)(7)(C) and D.C. Circuit Rule 32(a), that the foregoing brief is proportionally spaced, has a typeface of 14 point and contains 6,229 words (which does not exceed the applicable 7,000 word limit).

/s/ Carlos Ramos-Mrosovsky

If you don't know Mike Yon's website spend a little time browsing some of his reports including ones that I found fascinating on when he was embedded with units of the Welch Regiment in Iraq but also look at his incredible photographs, one of which Michael Moore purloined without authority for his anti-war film publicity.

It's the heart breaking one of a soldier running towards the camera cradling an injured baby.

Mike Yon has sued him I understand but I don't know the outcome if it has been heard yet with him out of the company so much -- he's from Winter Garden FL, just up the road from here.
