Default Distiller Page Size Question

I just encountered a problem I have seen before: Distiller 8 does not always recognize the sheet size spec'd by the printer driver. I am working on a job in Corel Draw X4. In order to have crop marks, I print to a Scitex driver with a page size of Letter Extra (9"x12"). The resulting PDF is cropped to 8.5x11. UNLESS I change the Distiller settings to have a default page size of 9x12.

Is this an issue with Distiller, or of the printer driver. Using Draw's PDF output is not an option. It is not reliable.
