Default SFC /scannow

In connection with an error reported by Windows 2010 Installer, Microsoft Support says I can run the command line 'SFC /SCANNOW', but I have to be an administrator. When I try this, I receive the message that I must be an administrator running a 'console session' to use the sfc command. That appears to me to be pure geek speak, which I don't know. Any Windows geeks out rhere?
