Default Tiger brings OT font support to Mac OS

According to a note from Adobe’s Tom Phinney, Mac 10.4 (“Tiger”) OS brings new support for OpenType fonts, mapping OT features to those in Apple’s somewhat mysterious AAT font system.

So any application that supports AAT (meaning at this point TextEdit, Pages, or Keynote) would also treat OT fonts more or less the same way — showing such features as small caps, ligatures, oldstyle figures.

Not exactly the big apps we all use, but hey — it is at least an interesting change.
