Default Distill RGB PS as Greyscale

I have an application which produces what should be Black vector artwork (music). However, when you do "Save As PDF", it produces RGB data.

PostScript output, run through Distiller, also comes out as RGB, unless you specify Convert to CMYK, in which case you get the image split across all four plates, with 90%K.

I'm wondering whether I can use Distiller to force convert the PS to a mono image, but I can't seem to find a way.

Obviously, I could batch process the files in Acrobat afterwards, or use a Quartz Filter, but I'd be grateful for any suggestions anyone might have.
