Default padding causing scroll

I am getting horizontal scrolling with a new WordPress theme on my food site. I am pretty sure it arises from the 4% padding on the first item in the menu bar, but I cannot figure out how to fix it.

I did have the color bars (i.e., “menu”) styled separately but that caused more problems (which I do not now recall), so I simplified things and put the styling on the UL, which is I how I got the horizontal scroll.

Any advice?
