Default Hello Everyone

Since I'm new to the software I use in my work (CS2), I'll be pestering you from time to time with questions, some of them basic. In exchange, feel free to pick my brain about my area of experience which is making and using workable plates for the press. I'll always been the bridge between the ideas of the design, and the mechanical requirements of the press and bindery.

I now work for a business card thermographer that does a high volume of about everything. We go direct to plates from Indesign, which I was able to pick up quickly due to its similarity to Pagemaker. Where I need help is with the applications that create the linked files that I place in Indesign. I would like to know what I can and can't do before asking the customers to redo their files. I had one this week reply, "I don't know what you mean by spot color." Sigh.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any tips.
