Default Safari RSS vulnerable

According to a post from Brian Mastenbrook, the Safari browser “is vulnerable to an attack that allows a malicious web site to read files on a user’s hard drive without user intervention.”

This affects Mac computers running OS X 10.5 (Leopard) but not older versions, regardless of whether they actually use Safar. The fix is to go to Safari Preferences and change the default RSS setting from Safari to some other RSS reader (another browser or Mail).

It also affects Safari users in Windows, but the solution for them is to use a different browser.
