Default SpyBot deletes .TMP?

I ran SpyBot 1.6 on a computer that hasn't had it before, and it asked to delete 3,131 temporary files to speed up its checking. I told it no. I deleted some temporary files with search results, and some more by going to C:\windows\temp and other places with the COMMAND window, but SpyBot still says 2,944 temp files could be deleted. Search now tells me I have 2,586 .TMP extension files, fewer than SpyBot finds.

I see donotdelete.tmp as one of the files, so I am suspicious that deleting all the .tmp files might change the operation of some programs. Am I too cautious?
