Default Need Help with PS Paths

I am using paths to create masks for a number of images. In one case I have two photos of the same machine, except one has additional hardware attached. Shot without moving the camera or changing the lights.

I created the path for the simpler machine. Now I want to create a path around the additional hardware and combine the two. I am to the point of having two path segments with overlapping endpoints, but I cannot seem to find a way to merge those endpoints. I know how to do this in Corel Draw, but can't seem to find the right operation/tool/command in PS CS3.

What am I missing? Or does it matter when such a path is turned into a clipping path?
