Default Printing 1 point rules in process color gradients

I was given a Quark template that I'm using for a catalog that will be printed traditionally (offset, process color).

The template includes 1-point rules that are not solid colors -- they are gradients (from a process color to white).

I think it's asking for trouble. I normally don't even do 1 point rules as a solid process color, much less a gradient.

One printer says it's no problem -- he can print it. Another says don't do it -- 1 point is too thin for a process gradient.

Comments?

Although I didn't design the job, I have to make sure it prints.
