Default USPS Signature Confirmation problem

I just had something sent to me by United States Postal Service and paid extra for signature confirmation. The reason I do this is to track the package, and make sure it's delivered into my hand. This is so it's not left sitting outside where anyone can take it.

Well, the last one I did was not delivered to me for my signature. It was left sitting on top of the outdoor communal mail boxes where I live. And when I checked with the postal service, I was told there is a signature on file with my name.

They say the post office is the only branch of government we can trust. I guess that's not true anymore.
