Default USB floppy drives (external)

Does anyone have an external floppy drive? If so, any caveats or warnings. Prices range from $20-ish to $80 — what’s should explain the difference?

I have to rummage through a mess of old floppies (1.44MB) and think it would be much easier to do it on my main Mac instead of an old slow one.

I am tempted by one of these:

LaCie Floppy Disk Drive, USB2, $30 (have to order from LaCie, evidently)

Sony USB 2, Mac/PC-compatible, $50 (from Staples, so easy to get)

Any advice on these or others.
