Default ACDSee database

Having invested a significant amount of time and effort with ACDSee assigning comments, tags and keywords to a collection of images I'm now starting to wonder if I'm locked into it.

I'd thought of migrating to Thumbs Plus which I note has been mentioned here. I can export the ACDSee db as an XML-type text file, but I simply don't know if there's anything out there that can read it? Tech support at TP (Cerious Software) have been less than helpful. A pity since I'd thought that storing the data in Access format would have allowed for some flexibility and future proofing...;-(

I've also heard IMatch being mentioned here and wondered if anyone had experience of using it and, in particular, its import/export potential?

Grateful for any advice.
