The attached sample has been hand drawn, but I expect that it is based on a commercial font. Can anyone identify what the artist may have used as a base, and/or suggest other fonts that have the same general feel?

Adobe's Viva has something in common with the "MOON" and "STAR" type in your sample, so it may have served as a sort of inspiration to the letterer. It's the closest face I can think of, but not terribly close.
