Default Serif vs. Sans Serif, finale

Well, thanks for the input on my volunteer who wouldn't mix serif and sans serif.

After two months of trying to nudge her into a more professional newsletter layout (I did at least manage to get her to delete about half the clipart...), she told me she would NOT mix serif with sans serif and I could replace her if I didn't agree.

I replaced her.

I still have no idea why she's so terrified of mixing fonts. Mixing bad fonts, yes. But mixing fonts well is a very established practice.
