Default Calculate Cap Height?

Many years ago, when we were setting type on Linotype and even--gasp!--Computgraphic EditWriter 7500s, there was a standard mathematical formula for calculating the cap height of a given font. Something like point size X 2/3 divided by something else.

Does anyone remember how to do this?

Thanks,
Michele
