Default Installing the InDesign CS2 update

I've just finished installing the update version of InDesign, and, to my considerable surprise, it has installed CS2, but didn't remove the CS version that was on my computer. Is that usual? I've also activated CS2, registered it, and installed the latest uodates, which took considerably longer than installing CS2 in the first place.

I've also installed Acrobat 8. Although I only paid for the update version, it doesn't seem to be the full version, although it recommended uninstalling Acrobat 7—I did, which seemed to take longer than the installation of Acrobat 8.
