Default Firefox wants to download XPI

I'm trying to download the Lightning extension for Thunderbird. When I do, Firefox sees the file is XPI and asks me if I want to install it or cancel. It doesn't give me the option of downloading. Usually, you can get around this by right-clicking on the link and choosing to download the file, but that downloads an HTM file, not the XPI. Am I going to have to use IE to download the XPI for a Mozilla application?
