Default InDesign table columns

Hi,

In InDesign CS2 (Mac OSX), is there a way to create a table with e.g. four columns in the top half of the table and five columns in the bottom half? I've tried playing with merge/split cells, but can't make it work well with uneven numbers.

Best wishes, Adrian
