Help needed, please:
I'm currently playing with ways of punching up a website I'm working on. It has a conventional left-side menu box: a vertical table with half a dozen cells, each of which contains a text link. I want to do something to make this fancier than just plaintext. In particular, I'd like to make the cells look something like buttons, with rounded corners and maybe a graded color. I tried using Nifty Corners and found it wouldn't work in either of my browsers (Mozilla 1.5, MSIE 6). I mean, I went to demo pages for Nifty Corners, which included samples like "this shows Nifty Corners on all corners, this shows it on just upper corners", and I saw only squared corners everywhere. I tried using the basic Flash buttons included with my old copy of Dreamweaver, and discovered that Flash buttons don't resize to allow for long captions. A couple of my choices are 15-20 characters, and would just overflow the button. I could try creating rounded-corner rectangles as GIFs using Paint or something, but it's slow and tedious work. I'm hoping instead to find something that will let me do the following: specify the button W and H, color, text caption, and link, and the program does everything else and creates the button for me. Any suggestions? -- JSW |
