Default Mac nostalgia

While poking around in old copies of Tidbits newsletter today, I ran into a report from the January 1995 MacWorld expo in San Francisco.

Wow! What fun (and sadness, since Apple, like Adobe, has abandoned useful and appealing technology in the past decade). Besides LightningDraw GX, which I mentioned elsewhere, it was fun to read about these:
  • UniQorn (SoftPress Systems), the GX typesetting and page layout program. It was fabulous at the time, but alas depended on GX. The company does still offer FreeWay, web site development software, however.
  • One of the hot t-shirts at the show: from Microsoft, with the slogan: “Windows 95 Sucks Less.”
  • GX fonts from Linotype
  • Mac clones (remember those?)
