My Web sites at TextDrive stopped responding to the outside world last evening at 8:26 pm PDT (Tuesday 0326 hrs UTC). At 8:44 pm PDT my "watchdog" service discovered the problem and sent an email message to me. I opened an "urgent" support ticket on the TextDrive help desk at 8:48 pm. Over the next 65 minutes, I added further observations to the ticket: I could ftp to the server, all my files were there, I could even see one entire site through its back door URL on the textdrive.com domain, and all email functions were working ... but using http to anything on the actual domain name resulted in a 404. Then I gave up and went to bed.
The issue was resolved at 12:48 am today, four hours after I opened the urgent ticket: "Apache's httpd.conf got truncated somehow. However, Apache was still running so the alarms were not going off. Sorry about that. Your sites appears to work now. I will close this ticket now, but certainly reply if something is not right with your setup." __________________ John Rabold |
