Default PopChar 3 beta

The venerable character display utility PopChar — which I thought had died years ago — has a beta of a brand new version, now available for Windows as well as Mac OS X (10.3.9 or later).

It will display characters from any selected font in a floating window. It knows names of more than 16,000 unicode glyphs, and you can search for characters by name as well as number (this also works for HTML characters). You can click-insert characters in a document, but PopChar also displays the key stroke needed to display a character.

More details (and download access to the date-limited beta version) at the web site.
