Default Panic!

Been meaning to share this story, but haven't had time...

Last weekend, Dave and I got away for a weekend (just to a DC hotel, but a really nice one... belated Valentine's day since he had to work 2/14). The room included a computer with a 19 inch monitor and I took the opportunity to see how a few of my sites looked at much higher resolution than I run at home or at work...

Panic! I get to my newest site, www.sallybaird.org and the fonts are so small they were unreadable! I pulled up the CSS to see if there were some inheritance problems, but I didn't see anything obvious. I had my laptop with me and, much to Dave's dismay, was prepared to fire up Dreamweaver et. al. to FIX THIS HORRIBLE PROBLEM!

Before I did that, I decided to see how chaning the font size effected the problem... the hotel computer only had IE on it, so I went to the Size open and....

<dramatic pause>

The room's previous user had left the font set to SMALLEST.

Panic subsided and the rest of the weekend didn't include much computer time.
