I got a phone call at work the other day from a nice young man at Quark, Inc., wondering if I might be interested in testing the new public beta. As the conversation progressed, what he really wanted to know was why I won't touch any version of Quark with a barge pole.
We converted from Quark 4.11 to InDesign CS two years ago, and we have never looked back. I don't make these decisions in my company, but it was my VERY STRONG recommendation that we go with IDCS when we adopted OSX. We have never regretted the decision. The young man from Quark was very polite, and friendly, and asked me some intelligent questions about why we made the transition. It was an interesting conversation. He wasn't a telemarketer--he didn't offer any fantastic deals or anything like that. So, I guess Quark is trying to figure out how to get their market share back. Good luck to them. |
