Default Battery status display gone

I'm running an IBM ThinkPad with Win2K, and have just noticed that the battery status is no longer displaying in the systray.

How can I get it back? I have a feeling that this disappeared when I upgraded to Win2K SP4 recently, but can't be absolutely sure.
