Default CSS centering problem

I have been scratching my head about this for hours, so thought it was time to ask for fresh (or smarter) eyes to take a look at my draft page.

The slogan is meant to appear centered beneath the logo and the navigation bar. Seems simple enough, but it will not go. It behaves as if it had padding or an indent set somewhere, but neither is the case (so far as I intended or can see from the CSS).

So what is hanging it up? Any suggestion?

Thanks.
