Default Iso 9000/2000

Anyone in the UK who gets PrintWeek will see a letter I have written concerning the fact the the BPIF , with very little consultation has decided to introduce a BSI kitemark standard for print - basically by implication down grading our ISO standard.
Do printers in the US work to an international standard???
