Default Georgia Griffith

We have received sad news about a legendary CompuServe sysop (and more). She passed away on September 14 in her home town of Lancaster, Ohio.

Georgia was widely respected. She was brilliant, with a riveting (and sometimes polarizing) personality that came through clearly online. (She managed the Issues, National Politics, and IBM Special Issues forums at CIS.)

Her CIS career was only part of what she achieved. Although she was both deaf and blind, she had a long interest in music: she sang, taught piano, and directed a choir. And yet, according to her obituary, even all these achievements are but the tip of the iceberg.

Georgia was an icon of the best of old CompuServe, and she, like the service, will definitely be missed.
