Default Quark to ID?

I have some Quark files that I want to open in ID 3.0.1 (Windows). ID says it does not recognize the files. The only clue I have is that the first few bytes of the Quark file contain MMXPR3. I know they came from a Mac.

Does this mean the Quark files are too new for this version of ID? Would an upgrade to CS2 give me the converter I need?
