Default Mystery http referrers

My first serious question in the forum!

More and more, I find apparently irrelevant referrer entries in my web log. For example, this week, I find these:

http://empire-poker.black-poker.com/
http://www.the-discount-store.com/diet-pill.html http://www.littledevildoubt.com/online-poker.html http://www.randppro-cuts.com/online-gambling.html http://www.e-online-poker-4u.org/online-poker.html http://www.unbelievable-poker.com/poker-games.html

none of which have anything to do with any of my sites. I thought that http-referer was only set when you clicked a link in a page to get to another page: am I wrong?
