I can remember when we were all learning the basics of software, choosing hardware, trying to figure out fonts — that was in the early 1990s. When the web reared its head and it became obvious that designers and others had to produce web sites (at first it was called “repurposing” — hah!) and we tried to learn HTML. Then CSS. And many of us crossed over to INETPUT for help and became regulars there. Most of those issues have become everyday routine by now. But there is always something new. Direct-to-plate, direct-to-press, and other technologies are changing aspects of print production. Better and cheaper digital cameras as well as affordable color calibration make it easier for designers and artists to work. More capable desktop color printers bring some production into the studio. And for the web we have much to learn beyond HTML and CSS — search engine optimization being the current tip of the iceberg. So the beat goes on. __________________ :: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |
