Default Getting equations from Word to InDesign

I've got both CS3 and CS4 on PC. I've been using CS4 sparingly because I don't have time to figure out the new stuff.

Anyway, I've got a project that includes a lot of equations (in Word files). I'm trying to figure out the easiest, best way to get those equations into InDesign. It doesn't have to be a free or cheap way -- I'll spend money on software (within reason) if it will help.

The project will be printed in 100% black ink, so I need to make sure the equations don't bring in weird Word colors (RGB).

I'm looking into MathType, which I'm told will let me batch export Word equations as EPS files. And apparently there's a way to automatically re-link the EPS files in the InDesign file (I can't remember if it's part of MathType or a separate program).

Anyone have experience getting equations from Word into InDesign and have any other suggestions?

FWIW, I did try someone's suggestion of selecting the equations in Word with its Equation Editor, copying and pasting into InDesign, but the results were imperfect. I got some overlapping characters, misaligned bracket segments, etc.

And I definitely want to avoid having to process each equation separately in Illustrator. I'd probably go crazy.
