Default Quark: picture usage

I'm having another problem in Quark at the moment & was wondering whether anyone could help solve the problem I'm having.

When I import images into a Quark document (either new or existing) & then go to Picture Usage, all the images say "Modified" even though I haven't changed anything. If I update them all, close the Usage window & then immediately open the Usage window again without doing anything else, the images are all "Modified" again! So that's my 1st problem.

Also, some of the file names of the images are either all in a Dingbats font, some are correctly listed & some of the file names are blank. The blank ones say "Modified" but when I update them, it says that I need an XTension to be able to update those images! The others update OK, but lose the link to the file somehow as per problem #1.

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
