I wish I could help more -- when I lived in the UK HP service was very good so I hope it still is.
If you do get a replacement unit I would ask HP about having both printer/scanners installed at the same time and I would seriously consider a very complete cleanout of all the HP software using the free and excellent Revo Uninstaller in its Mode 4 that digs very deeply. I don't know if you know Revo but after analysing it offers to run the normal WIndows uninstaller which uses the script written by the application programmer and then offers to go beyond that and each time it lists what it finds and makes you select what it is to do, so it doesn't just blindly do what it thinks is right. Then I'd clean out all temp files and start from scratch, maybe taking the plunge and just installing the newer device. Of course you could consider upgrading to Windows 7 which is immeasurably better than VISTA! <g> __________________ Hugh |
