Default Enclosing the Drive

Now, this is an interesting comment. I have a couple of old computers, and I was thinking I could take out the hard drives and put them in an enclosure for backing up other computers. Is this something easy? Does someone know where to get good instructions? I mean written in normal English, rather than with that grammar used in computer English.
