Default Doyald Young — a nice article

If you are not familiar with Doyald Young, you probably just have not associated his name with any of the logos or typefaces he has produced. His work is ubiquitous, on labels, TV, and in print.

He teaches (or taught) lettering, logo design, and typography at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. And he has produced two gorgeous books: Fonts & Logos and Logotypes & Letterforms. The books are beautifully produced, and include among other things, analysis of features in characters from many popular fonts.

Now he is featured in an interview by Stefan G. Bucher in STEP: Inside Design (formerly Step-by-Step Graphics). The article includes small examples of his designs, and is a good way to introduce yourself to Young and his work.
