Explaining what you do in the course of your introduction is ok. It's one of the reasons we have the "Introduce Yourself" section: so we can get acquainted with one another (and one another's talents).

Other than that, we encourage questions, answers to others' questions, discussions of whatever's on your mind, but not advertising. If a post is nothing but an ad, one of the moderators will remove it.
