Default Forum Tools

Just noticed a new 'Gotcha' on the Forum software - under the Forum Tools header, I cannot automatically mark a Forum section 'read' whereas I could before.

I have it here - can you be a bit more specific? Is the option not appearing for you under Forum Tools? Or is the option there but not working for you?

Hi Franca

Sorry - not being specific. The option is there, it's just that clicking it (when there are some unread threads) do not mark those threads as read.

I noticed the same thing - but it looks to me like it's only not updating the forum display (as it used to). When I left the forum and refreshed the main forum overview the forum no longer was marked as having unread messages.

But it's annoying that the display is not refreshed while in the forum itself.

Ah, yes. Within the forum, the display is not refreshed until you leave and come back in. A bit annoying because it leaves you wondering if anything happened at all. I don't have to refresh the main index, though - as soon as I leave the forum, the main index is display is correct. And when I go back into the forum the display is correct there as well.

Yet the “Mark Forums Read” in the Quick Links menu works as before.

I will put this problem on my list as well. Thanks.

What's interesting is that both this problem and the uploads problem seem to be related to JavaScript somehow. Though it could be a red herring....

We do have the same software version, don't we?

Yes. We are due for a dot upgrade, but didn’t think it wise to do everything all at once.

Very wise, Kathleen - wait with that until it's completely stable!

Oh, and you can scratch that little JavaScript theory - Hugh's remark was indeed an (unintentional) red herring.

Probably CTRL + F5 which forces a download refresh would work without quitting?

I don't use Mark as Read here so I don't know.
