Kuler update from Adobe Labs
For those of you who have recent enough Adobe software to use their Swatch Exchange format, their Kuler site -- http://kuler.adobe.com/ -- has been enhanced. You need to have the lastest, free Adobe Air installed, the site is Flash based -- but not just for show -- and if you want to save .ase files or share them, you need to sign in with your Adobe ID and password. If you can't use Adobe Swatch Exchange files, there's little use, other than perhaps curiosity, to go to Kuler.
What caught my attention with the upgrade is you now can upload on the Create tab (to public or private area) a photo and Kuler will automatically select 5 colors from the image. There are 5, I believe, settings for Colorful, Dull, Light, Dark, something like that, and a Custom setting. As soon as 5 anchor points have been placed on the image and the color set has been created, you can drag those points anywhere you like and create your own set of 5 basic colors. Of course, these can later be easily used in Illustrator's Live Color to create more sets based on any number of color "rules," or schemes. And they can be loaded into any of Adobe's design software since they have the .ase format. It's kind of fun, so you might want to try it out. __________________ Cristen |
